All the news I feel like posting, when the mood strikes me, or when a news event grabs the attention of my obtuse, twisted mind, and I can think of a relevant, or witty, or sarcastic, or skeptical, or off-color, or paranoid comment to attach to the headline/blurb.

AIN'T GOT THE BALLS
"Hoffman blasts Bush's war plans...Dustin Hoffman has become the latest US star to voice his opposition to war with Iraq" [Ananova] {It's a shame that we have to rely on actors and other celebrities to espouse the position of the left because our "liberal" political leaders ain't got the balls to buck the politically correct Washington elitist position. Maybe, just maybe, there's a slight liberal bias in the media, but it sure doesn't reach into Washington politics very far. We have conservatives and we have moderates, but that's about as far as it goes. And how come the warmongering opinion purveyors don't publicly criticize Gore Vidal in the same ridiculing way that they criticize people like Suzanne Sarandon or Alec Baldwin? Because they ain't got the balls either, that's why. They can't stand in the face of Vidal's biting sarcasm and intellectual superiority. Anyway, who listens to Gore any more? }

BUSH, THE MAN
"I mean, I told him I wouldn't vote for him. . . . Because I'd vote for Bush. The important thing is this: Is a candidate completely serious about prosecuting the war on theocratic terrorism to the fullest extent? Only Bush is." --Christopher Hitchens [Wash. Post] {Undoubtedly, this is Bush's strongest point, and he should be selling it a lot harder, and probably he will in the next election. He's a headstrong leader in a crowd of wishy-washy candidates who would rather cater to the whims of a fickle electorate than take a principled stance. I'm not a Bush person, politically. I am not pro-war. But I admire the man.}
