I have this fantasy. [What? Another one?] I maintain it in conjunction with a small group of friends: for a long time now, we've been wanting to own an art/junk shop, not so much as a business as just a place to go to be during the day where we can work at what we want to do, wait on occasional customers as they arrive, sell consignment art, and recycle the refuse that accumulates in our lives.

But we either don't have the time or can't be bothered to actually go out and find a location, rent or buy it, do all of the work associated with the establishment and upkeep of a storefront, pay taxes, fill out a lot of bureaucratic forms (ugh), keep regular hours (what am I thinking?) [It's only a fantasy. No need to get upset]--not to mention the fact that most of us have moved to different cities and towns.

So, this will have to do: an online storefront. It's only a beginning. But it's a place where I can hang and fulfill the idle fantasy. Wanna buy a mogwai?

The financing arrangements are not set up yet for these items.

I belong to PayPal, so you could use that, I guess, although given the recent difficulties they've been having with fraud, I'm not quite sure yet that I want to go with them.

[I still get an occasional e-mail asking me to send my vital information to (a pseudo) PayPal address so that they can process it and send me a Visa card.]

I just wanted to get this page online, for esthetic reasons. But if you really want one of these items, e-mail me. We'll arrange something. A check would be fine, if you can wait until it clears.

Yoda (of Star Wars fame) with additional Indian lance. In excellent condition EXCEPT for the cloth robe, which is tattered and nearly comletely missing in the back. I don't know if this is a collector's item or not, but it has a very high sentimental value for me. It used to hang off the rear view mirror in my '82 Toyota pickup. It's primary purpose was to provoke questions as to what it was doing there so that I could answer "That's my toy Yoda." But it's since taken on the additional nostalgic properties of being a piece of memorabilia from the db era. [The Indian lance is just something I found and added.]
Height: two inches, head to foot.

Free Weights. I seem to have all these extra free weights on my hands. Remember Cheech Marin in one of those Cheech and Chong films (I forget which one), where Tommy is spotting him and he walks away for a minute and Cheech can't support the weights and allows them to drop down around his neck? That's me. I'm not the weight lifting type.

Height: standard; Weight: heavy.

Psychoanalytic Practice, Helmut Thomä and Horst Kächele, 2 vols., 961 pp., 1994 (orig. retail approx. $80.) $10.00
This is a nice text. Somehow, I've ended up with two copies. This copy is brand new. I'm about halfway through the first volume of my copy. It's not an easy text, but it's highly worthwhile. I finish about twenty or thirty pages per week. I can't tell you how much insight this book has given me into both psychoanalysis in general and my own psychology in particular. For the obsessive-compulsive personality who can persist, reading this book will be a rewarding experience. The authors are the leading experts in their field. Nothing is left out. The content surveys the entirety of psychoanalytic theory. If you're tired of pop psychology distorting the science and want to know what psychoanalysis is really all about, read this book. (--jai)

This is my most recent book. It's available in tree-killer format or as an e-book ($8.00 in Glassbook format from my publisher or $5.00 in .pdf format directly from me.) Read excerpts, notes, bio, etc. here. (--jai)
